"Observing the Sky" is a single that was bundled with the virtual singer software AQUA. The fragments of this song first appeared as an impression song during the release promotion. When officially released, the full version of this song was included as the only teaching song that came with AQUA. At the same time, "Observing the Sky" also became AQUA's first single to top the charts, sparking the first wave of AQUA fever.
Originally, this song did not have a PV, but it was later added by the creator, AoP herself. The PV for this song caused a frenzy online due to its exquisite art style and beautiful yet abstract composition, and it was praised for having an Escher-like style. Some even pointed out that the curved and sunken scenes in the PV perfectly match several solutions to Einstein field equations. "The girl floating in the sky, gazing at the universe" has since become the most deeply ingrained image of AQUA. Even among fans, "liking to look up at the sky" has become a conventional setting for AQUA.
Because this song was the first song released after AoP revealed her true gender and approximate age because of the launch of AQUA, it attracted widespread attention. And because of AoP's postscript after the song, it has caused a lot of speculation.
Because AoP revealed that she is a girl while participating in the production of AQUA, some people speculate that this song was written for her boyfriend. However, there are also many opposing opinions, based on the fact that the lyrics of this song are not like a love song. Some judge from the outline of the girl floating on the edge of the event horizon, which was gazed at by AQUA in the PV created by AoP herself, that this should be a yuri song.
